Our Mission
At Veterinary Dental Specialists of Wisconsin, our primary mission is to help serve the community by improving the oral health of cats and dogs, all while educating our clients about the importance of dental care. We strive to provide the gold standard of veterinary and dental care for your pets and take pride in continuously learning and improving our practice as we grow. While we take our jobs very seriously, we also like to laugh and have fun and create a positive environment for staff, clients, and patients.
About Board-Certified Veterinarian Dr. Honzelka
Dr. Honzelka has been a veterinarian since 1999 and was in general practice for over 10 years. Since then, he has dedicated his career to dentistry and oral surgery. Under the mentorship of Dr. Kressin, he was trained and became a Board-Certified Veterinary Dentist. He spent 13 years working with Dr. Kressin in Oshkosh and Milwaukee. After many years of working in the specialty, Dr. Honzelka decided it was time to reach new goals and opened Veterinary Dental Specialists of Wisconsin.
Our Newly-Opened Milwaukee Clinic
Construction on our building in Germantown began in the fall of 2022, and was completed in April when we officially moved into our own facility. While awaiting the building to be completed, Dr. Honzelka continued to work out of Blue Pearl-Glendale and VCA Milwaukee Emergency Center of Animals in Greenfield, as he had been doing for many years. We now operate solely in our new Germantown facility, but we remain thankful to Blue Pearl and VCA for all their help.
The Veterinary Dental Specialists of Wisconsin Approach
Patient care is number one here at Veterinary Dental Specialists. We try to make all of our patients feel at ease and practice fear-free techniques while working with them. All our cages and runs have glass doors so we can easily view our patients at all times. Our recovery cages are all glass and have options for heat support, a fan, as well as different lighting modes to keep our patients comfortable during the recovery process, and ensure that we can monitor them at all times. Music that has been studied to calm cats and dogs is played for them while they are hospitalized.
About Our Highly Trained Staff
In addition to Dr. Honzelka, we have a great team here. Our highly trained certified veterinary technicians are always continuing to learn and improve their skills and knowledge. We work closely with our board-certified anesthesiologist to provide our patients with the best anesthetic care and monitoring. Our patients are our number one priority. We monitor them closely post-operatively to make sure they are going home happy and comfortable. Our relations coordinator works closely with owners as well as our referring veterinary partners to keep them informed of any updates with our patients that have been referred here.
