About Us
Veterinary Dental Specialists of Wisconsin is dedicated to providing high-quality specialty dental care for pets around Wisconsin. At our facility, your pet’s oral health is our priority.
We use the most modern technology and equipment to assist our patients in being pain-free. Veterinary Dental Specialists of Wisconsin was the first veterinary practice in Wisconsin to have cone beam CT scanning capabilities for their dental patients.
Our board-certifiedTM dentists specialize in treating periodontology, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and orthodontics. Our team is dedicated to attending annual continuing education courses in veterinary dentistry, anesthesia, and pain management.
In addition to our specialty dentistry services, our clinic specializes in cases that require advanced anesthetic administration and monitoring. We have a virtual board-certifiedTM anesthesiologist for more involved anesthetic cases. Our partnerships allow us to provide the best care for our patients.
Steven R. Honzelka, DVM, DAVDC
Dr. Honzelka is a 1999 graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation he entered small animal practice. Although he enjoyed general practice, in 2006, he was “bitten by the dentistry bug”. He started attending as much dental CE and labs as possible. A few years later, Dr. Honzelka made the tough decision to leave general practice and enter a residency program in Dentistry and Oral Surgery. He became a Board-Certified Veterinary Dentist™ in 2015. Dr. Honzelka is a Wisconsin native and worked at Animal Dentistry & Oral Surgery Specialists in the Milwaukee and Oshkosh area.
In 2021, Dr. Honzelka and some of his colleagues formed Dental Vetcations, to provide an up-to-date Continuing Education program for practicing veterinarians. In 2022, Dr. Honzelka started his own practice, Veterinary Dental Specialists of Wisconsin. This exciting new practice will allow for more advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities for our patients.
When not at work, Dr. Honzelka spends most of his time with his wife, three teen-aged children, and pets. Much of this time is attending his children’s sporting events. He enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors (as long as it’s not too cold), and watching the Packers.
